  • We have an acre of property in the country for the dogs to run and play. We have a grassy field to play ball; we have a sandbox for digging; we have a swimming pool and wading pools for the dogs to swim or just cool off in the water. Our fields and play yards are large enough for the dogs to really run and play chase or fetch. We have several buildings the dogs have access to during the day, so there is always a choice about whether to be outside or inside. This also means there is always access to potty outside, so all of your hard earned potty training is not compromised. Compare that with many facilities in industrial areas with little or no access to outside, where the dogs are forced to relieve themselves indoors. Yuck! When there is outside access, the area is often very limited. Dogs crowded into a small area for too long are more likely to fight, so such facilities can be dangerous for dogs as well as workers. Our staff brings many years of dog experience to Two Paws Up, both in terms of dog behavior and dog safety. Most importantly, we really enjoy being with the dogs. Sadly, all too often, you go to a Doggie Day Care, only to see the dogs lying around on the floor asleep, while the staff stands on the sidelines, more intent on their conversations than engaging the dogs.
  • We are truly a socialized boarding facility. Unlike most Doggie Day Care facilities, where dogs are kenneled 2 hours a day or more, our guests are not crated at all during the day. Around noon, we have quiet time, where we encourage the dogs to take a nap. But our nap time is socialized. The dogs can choose their favorite quiet shady place to take a snooze. After nap time, it is back to running and playing until it is time for the day campers to go home.
  • Many boarding kennels charge you for every day you touch. If you arrive on Monday afternoon and depart on Wednesday afternoon, you will be charged for 3 days. At Two Paws Up, our overnight charges are based on a 24 hour day, so for us, the above example would be a 2 night stay. In addition, most facilities that offer both day camp and overnight boarding charge boarding dogs extra to participate in day camp. We do not. We also don’t charge extra for walks, since the dogs get to play all day, and we don’t charge extra for high calorie treats. We bake our own cookies all made using all natural human grade ingredients, and we offer fruits and veggies to dogs that like them, all at no extra charge.
  • We cater to both large and small dogs. About 1/3 of our regular day campers and boarders are dogs weighing less than 25 pounds. Many of our large dogs actually prefer to play with the little guys. We teach the big dogs and the little dogs to play together. It is all part of our socialization. Some of our biggest dogs weigh less than 20 pounds. Just ask them. They’ll tell you.
  • Food is included in the price for overnight guests. But we don’t feed just any food. We feed Flint River Ranch Premium Dog food in 4 different flavors. Flint River Ranch is made from human grade ingredients, so you know we care about our guests. Our meals include a special fish soup made by Mama Jeanne to moisten the dry food and whet the appetites of our most discriminating guests. A well fed dog is a relaxed dog, and we like our dogs to relax while in our care. We also accommodate special diets and medications, again at no extra charge, so there is minimal disruption of your dog’s regular routine while at Happy Camp. For puppies and high activity dogs, we often feed lunch meal to keep their energy up.
  • At night, all of our dogs sleep inside insulated rooms. During the summer, fans keep them cool; in the winter, heaters keep them warm. If it is particularly cold, we have extra coats and blankets for short haired and thin skinned dogs. We have five sleep rooms for the dogs. Dogs are grouped at night by compatibility, to ensure everyone has a good night’s sleep. It is interesting to see how often dogs from different families snuggle up with their new found camp friends at night. If a dog is not quite ready for communal sleeping, or owners prefer their dogs sleep alone, we have private kennels as well.
  • Our facility is staffed 24 hours a day. Our guests are never alone, day or night. When you interview other
boarding facilities, ask whether someone is at the facility overnight. You might be surprised at the answer.
  • We like to send our dogs home clean. We give complimentary baths to dogs who stay with us a week or more. We also offer full service grooming at a discount for day and overnight campers.
  • We provide van service Monday through Friday for our day campers as well as our overnight guests. While our van does not venture beyond Valley Center, Pauma and Escondido, we do have 4 stops along Hwy 15 convenient to meet people outside our area. Yes, we charge for van service, but we think you will find our rates are very reasonable.

What Makes Us Different Only Makes Us Better

  • We are not a franchise. Our facility is owner operated. The owner, Jeanne Miller, is on the premises most of the time during the day. We have been in business for over eleven years, and have vast experience socializing dogs. Since many of our guests are rescue dogs, we also have a lot of experience working with dogs with separation anxiety, fear aggression and all types of resource guarding. We help our customers deal with these issues so their dogs have a chance at a normal, happy, well adjusted life. It is our goal to develop a long term relationship with our customers and their dogs, so we become part of their extended family. Some of the dogs who stay with us today have been with us since we opened. For many of our customers, we are on the second and third generation of dogs.
  • We offer peace of mind to our customers. Owners know that we treat our guests as if they were our own dogs. We know all of our guest dogs by

name and personality, so we know how to keep them safe and happy during their stay with us. We are all about the dogs. We have created an environment where the dogs can relax, have fun, and most of all, be themselves. Whether our guests come for the day or spend a week or two

with us, they consider a visit with us to be a vacation. They don’t worry about where their folks are. They know they will be back for them. In the mean time, the dogs are at Happy Camp to have a good time with their doggie friends, and people who love them. We don’t have web cams. Our facility is just too big and the dogs run around too much. However, if you would like, we welcome phone calls, and will gladly email you pictures of dogs playing. We frequently post camp pictures on our web site, as well.
